Happy New Year! Now Pass the Ammo!

Happy New Year followers. 2009 was a Great Year. We turned Virginia red again with landslide victories in the Governors, Lt. Governors and Attorney Generals race this past November. Great job by Bob McDonnell, Bill Bolling, Ken Cuccinelli and the Republican Party of Virgina. May they serve with a servants heart.

Hopefully the march for liberty and prosperity will live on in 2010. Stay vigilant and find some way to contribute.

So with that I leave you with a personal motivational quote I often use: Pass the Ammo!

Who is Massachusetts State Senator Scott Brown?

He is a third term Republican Massachusetts state senator. Scott Brown is campaigning for the late Edward Kennedy's U.S. Senate seat. The special election is January 19th, 2010. Wednesday Dec. 30th is the last day for Massachusetts residents to register to vote in the Jan. 19 special election. Scott Brown is a veteran!

What makes this election interesting is that Scott Brown could possibly be a obstacle to the Democrats power grab and takeover of the U.S. Health Care system.

A Promise and The Hope of Real Change

Feeling a little tired and weary of these politicians who seemingly act like seventeen year olds hooked on drugs?

The pain of dealing with teenagers is probably not much different. Do they seem distant? Do they act seemingly reckless and non-responsive? The enslavement of the drug has blinded them from seeing their damage or adequately assessing our love or true motives. Sometimes their responses are often filled with hate and vile anger. They never see their harm till its too late. Our love sometimes is just not enough to overcome the wickedness of the drug. Don't loose your peace-of-mind, stay vigilant and stay strong in the heart of the spirit for them. For when they do fall someone will need to be there not to say "I told you so" but to lead over the next mountain.

Well, maybe its a good time to reflect and renew our journey. Remember we are not alone and in Him we all have a voice. You might say we speak with the power of two.

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, offers a Christmas blessing and challenges all of us to use the voices the newborn Jesus secured for us to stand for life and justice in the new year.

Tea Party Delivers DC Area Message

The Danville, Virginia TEA Party Patriots send President Obama a message via Airmail
The group’s project coordinator, Susan Lee, raised funds during the last two months to fly a plane over Washington, D.C. morning traffic today with a nearly 100-foot-long banner reading “OBAMA STOP DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY” in five-foot-tall letters.

If you were on Interstates 66, 95 or 495 during this morning’s rush hour and happened to look up, you might have seen this. Thanks to the Danville TEA Party for putting together the funding for this!

There is just something about Virginians that makes their Tea Partys so unique. Maybe its that they feel just a step closer to our Founding Fathers and their principles.

One coaches view: Ken Niumatalolo

The Navy Midshipmen won again Saturday against the Army Black Knights, 17-3, which makes eight in a row but there is so much more to this rivalry. Its more than just a game as noted by Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo:

"It's more than football," Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo said. "This isn't the biggest rivalry in college football. It is the biggest rivalry in sports. … If not for these guys doing what they do, you wouldn't have football. America understands that, because of these young men, they allow us to have freedoms in this great country."

No its not just another Saturday football game, Ken brings a certain pride and appreciation for these young men and women who choose to serve. Thank You Ken Niumatalolo for reminding us that it really doesn't matter who won this Saturday as these young service members have bigger battles ahead that they must endure.

Tito Munoz travels to Montreal to ask Canadians how they feel about their health care system and what they think of the U.S. health care system. Some of their comments may surprise you. All the videos have some great insight. I especially liked Part 4 with Christian, "Real" life experiences with a multitude of health care systems.

He asks Francisco, a resident of Montreal, QC how he feels about the health care he has for his wife and four children. Francisco is able to make interesting comparisons between the U.S and Canada because he has lived in the U.S. also.

The "Real" Sarah Palin returns to "Real" Virginia!

Yes, Virginia there is a "Real" Sarah Palin and she returned to Fairfax, Va. with her story and book called "Going Rogue" for a book signing event at a local BJ's store. Yes, Todd was there, mom and dad, and Trig were all there. Meanwhile, the Republican Party of Virginia (RPV) is down in Williamsburg, Va. planning for the next round of elections while the MSM is focused on Sarah who is not running for office. The liberals continue to attack their fears and not reality. Meanwhile, the RPV advances. Sarah is such a great decoy!

It's gratifying (if not a conspiracy) that Sarah returns to Virginia on the same weekend that the Republican Party of Virginia (RPV) is holding their Advance events in Williamsburg, Va. If your not familiar with the RPV Advance it is based on the concept that RPV does not retreat after elections but ADVANCES! After a stunning sweep of the 2009 Virginia races, Republicans seem hungrier for more. As seen in a recent RPV firehouse primary for Attorney General elect Ken Cuccinelli's soon to be vacant senate seat, Republicans are just engaged, fired-up and ready to turn out and vote for good candidates.

As much as the liberals and MSM would wish, Sarah is not retreating. Welcome back Sarah, now is a great time to be advancing the conservative cause in preparation of the 2010 elections. While Sarah runs decoy, republicans will be advancing and winning elections in 2010.

A December of Dithering or a December of Hell?

On the eve of the Presidents Afghanistan speech I can't help but wonder the mindset of the men and women who are awaiting backup troops from their Commander-In-Chief. I plan on to listening to his speech (no video) as that is how most our men and women will hear of this speech, if they ever do. I will be thinking of those brave men and women so far from home.
I wonder if they are doubting our resolve? - I sense they are!
I wonder if they doubting their own resolve? - I sense they are!
I wonder which December are they preparing for?

One in which Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin described - they will NOT go gently, they will unleash HELL in December?

Or, one in which I just wish I didn't feel like? One like we have let these young men and women down to get to this point by dithering in the politics of war.

These young men and women deserve so much more than one mans speech or act can ever bestow on them. They need US, sending our support, thoughts and prayers for these brave troops, God Bless them as either way its going to be hell.

The News & Advance Endorses Bob McDonnell

The News & Advance lends its endorsement for Virginia gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell for Virginia's next Governor. Here:

In the gubernatorial election, there is one candidate who has the temperament, the leadership abilities, the discipline and the vision to serve as Virginia’s next chief executive.

That candidate is Republican Bob McDonnell, and The News & Advance editorial board wholeheartedly endorses him for governor.

McDonnell is the only candidate who has confronted the critical issues facing the commonwealth of Virginia today: transportation, education and the economy and jobs creation. He is the only candidate who has laid out, in detail, his proposals for addressing these challenges.

And as importantly, he is the only candidate who has run a mostly positive campaign, trying to engage the electorate on his strengths, not his opponent’s weaknesses.

On the other hand, his opponent, Democrat Creigh Deeds, has run one of the most negative, issue-free gubernatorial campaigns Virginia has seen. From trying to portray McDonnell as a knuckle-dragging social conservative based solely on a 20-year-old grad school thesis to ads blaming him for higher electric rates, Deeds’ campaign has been one never-ending negative ad.

Bob McDonnell is a conservative Republican, a conservative Catholic Republican. No denying that at all. Does that disqualify him as governor? Absolutely not.
He knows the challenges Virginia and Virginians face, and he’s demonstrated an ability to think outside the box, to borrow a phrase, on any number of critical issues.

* Education reform. McDonnell recognizes there is much that public schools are doing right in Virginia, but also that there is room for improvement across the board. At the center of his reform proposals is a call for a more active embrace of charter schools in divisions across the commonwealth. As the state’s chief executive, he also recognizes the fact that the best educators in Virginia must be compensated for their talents; merit pay and other best practices common in the business world would receive serious consideration in a McDonnell administration.

* Transportation. Virginia has confronted a growing transportation crisis for most of this decade, and the failure of two governors and each and every member of the General Assembly to reach consensus on how to solve this massive problem will sully all their reputations.

The pragmatic McDonnell, who sees a problem that needs to be addressed, has put forward a series of revenue streams that he believes would meet the state’s maintenance needs and that would give planners the tools to address the longterm challenges of the two most desperate regions of the state, Northern Virginia and Tidewater.

While we have reservations about the viability of some of the proposals, McDonnell has at least laid out specific proposals. That’s more than his opponent has done.

* The economy and jobs creation. Virginia and the nation are in the grips of the worst recession in 70 years. Unemployment keeps inching up month by month. Tax revenues that fund critical government services keep failing to meet targets. Something must be done about the economy, and McDonnell is only candidate who seems to recognize that fact.

McDonnell, the former attorney general and a longtime legislator prior, knows the mechanisms of government available to spur growth and jobs creation. Tax incentives, tax credits, massive efforts to recruit new employers and retain current ones, preserving Virginia as a right-to-work state and efforts to reduce regulations and the cost of doing business in Virginia, whether for small or large businesses.

While McDonnell has talked specifics, his opponent has done little more than offer nice-sounding platitudes. But platitudes hire no one.

On these major issues and supported by the evidence of the quality of the campaign he oversaw, we can only reiterate our strongly held belief that there is only one candidate suited to lead Virginia for the next four years: Bob McDonnell.

As a member of the Senate Courts of Justice committee, Cuccinelli has a better grasp of the wide range of duties the job entails than does his opponent.
And while there are several issues on which we disagree with him — his push to repeal the prohibition of a concealed-carry permit holder to bring a gun into a restaurant or bar comes to mind — his abilitites far outweigh his negatives.

US Coast Guard Cutter Barque Eagle - America's Tall Ship

Years ago, I lived in New London, Connecticut on the Thames River. This ship is so magnificent and should be considered a national treasure. It was commissioned on May 15, 1946. Its mission is to train Coast Guard Cadets. Its an awesome sight to see move up the Thames River and out towards Long Island Sound. Keep Up the Great Work Coasties! Errr...Guardians!
This is a short "behind the scenes" high definition music video of the United States Coast Guard Cutter "Barque Eagle". This footage was shot during a two week cruise between July 13th and July 27th 2007. The cruise began in Veracruz, Mexico and ended in Miami, Florida.

This short, rough cut footage is part of a much longer documentary of the US Coast Guard Cutter Barque Eagle. The feature length film is scheduled to be completed by July 2008.

The Symbol of the Ken Cuccinelli Campaign

Make no mistake the Gadsden Flag has become a powerful symbol for the Ken Cuccinelli campaign to be the next Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Virginia:

I and apparently others have observed after hearing Ken Cuccinelli speak:

After attending and hearing Ken Cuccinelli speak at the GMU Manassas, Va. debate I really developed a respect for why Ken Cuccinelli uses the Gadsden Flag as his campaign symbol.

More conservatives should use the Constitution as their political compass.

Prince William County, Va. Law agencies make new pact on illegal deportation.

Probably, no single law in the some twenty-five years I have lived in Prince William county has made a significant quality of life change for me and my family than Prince William County's particapation in the 287(g) illegal deportation program. Within a mile of my residence we had shootings, prostitution rings and gang graffiti just explode on our neighborhood streets. Violent crimes, gang graffiti and nefarious sex related activity have been squelched in my opinion because of this one program. Kudos to the local and state governments to improve our kids and grandkids current situation and hopefully their future.

Prince William County, Va. renews 287(g) program excerpts:

Department of Homeland Security officials have signed new agreements authorizing nearly 70 state and local law enforcement agencies, including a contentious Arizona sheriff, to help arrest and deport illegal immigrants charged with violent or criminal acts.

The new agreement allows for "greater accountability and transparency," including regular audits and closer federal inspection, said Mr. Morton.

No agencies in the District or Maryland are participating. But in Virginia, the Prince William County Sheriff's Office and Police Department, and Prince William-Manassas Adult Detention Center have renewed their agreements. So have the Manassas Police Department, Manassas Park Police Department, Rockingham County Sheriff's Office and Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office.

US Military Fallen - week ending Oct.10, 2009

Specialist Stephan Lee Mace, of Purcellville, VA, died Saturday, 03 October 2009 while fighting for freedom in Afghanistan.

Week ending Oct.10, 2009 the US Department of Defense released the names of 17 military personnel who died, while serving in the United States armed forces.

A grateful nation honors your service. Your battle is over; rest in peace. Your courage, for our country, will forever be etched in our minds and hearts.

Stephan L. Mace was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.

Loudoun Family Mourns For 'the Life of the Party'

Stephan, a member of the Army's 61st Cavalry Regiment who grew up in Purcellville, Va. was among eight soldiers killed Saturday Oct. 3, 2009 in Afghanistan during one of the deadliest attacks on U.S. forces by the Taliban.

Bob McDonnell's Daughter Campaigns in Arlington, Va.

WJLA ABC 7 News catches up with Jeanine McDonnell at a recent Veterans for McDonnell hosted reception at the Army Navy Club in Arlington, VA.

Bob McDonnell was joined by his daughter during a rally in Arlington.

"My dad is my hero," Jeanine McDonnell said. "And I would do absolutely anything to help him. And I completely believe in everything he stands for."

Jeanine McDonnell is a former U.S. Army lieutenant. She commanded a platoon in Iraq and is a current working woman.

DeMint went without Kerry’s blessing, and said afterwards that “we saw a government working hard to follow the rule of law, uphold its constitution, and to protect democracy for the people of Honduras.”

“We are very encouraged by what we saw and we hope to be able to work with our administration to support the upcoming elections,” DeMint said.

Heritage Foundation senior policy analyst Ray Walser said Tuesday that although the elections offer a solution to the three month-old crisis the Obama administration is “fixated” on Zelaya’s return to the presidency.

“Instead of allowing the Honduran people to speak through elections on November 29 and end the crisis, the administration makes Zelaya’s restoration to presidential office its primary objective and the litmus test for ‘a restoration of democracy,’” he wrote on the Heritage blog.

Ken Cuccinelli Unveils Five Specific Proposals for Veterans

Senator Ken Cuccinelli Unveils Proposals to Better Prepare the AG's Office to Advocate on Behalf of Our Veterans

Announces five specific proposals to better equip Virginia to provide for our Veterans.

Senator Cuccinelli's five proposals include:

1. Designating and training two attorneys in the Attorneys General's office to better and more frequently help Virginia Department of Veterans Services (VDVS) agents win individual claim cases. These attorneys would also serve as additional training resources for VDVS agents and in-state Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs) in Virginia.

2. Providing more regular and professional training for our VDVS agents and in-state VSO's.

3. Establishing a regular email newsletter with Attorney General's office contributions to inform Virginia veteran's of what benefits are available to them, how to access them, as well as keeping up (along with VSO and VDVS agents) with changes in federal law.

4. Ensuring that Virginia and its localities, unlike some other states, complies fully with the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA).

5. Amend Virginia's election laws to guarantee the timely delivery of BOTH absentee ballot requests and the ballots themselves to military members overseas.
Joining Senator Cuccinelli on the call were three veterans.

Paul Galanti of Richmond had this to say about Senator Cuccinelli, "I am proud to support Ken Cuccinelli for Attorney General. His support for Veterans is more than just words. It has been backed with years of service with the Pro-Bono Veterans Consortium as an Attorney representing Veterans in the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims as they attempted to obtain benefits for injuries obtained during their service in the military. Ken's leadership, experience and commitment to veterans is a testament to his character and his support to those who wear our country's uniform."

Joe McCain of Alexandria, also on the call, stated in support of Senator Cuccinelli, "As a Vietnam veteran, I gladly support Ken Cuccinelli for Attorney General. He is an outstanding person who has served the people of Virginia effectively as an attorney, then as a state senator since 2002. He has made a public commitment to veterans ... I have heard him say so many times. From the first time I met Ken, I admired the ethical tone that permeates his thinking, and know that he will serve the public in Virginia as well as any Attorney General ever has."

Another call participant, Roger Sullivan of Richmond, stated that "Ken is committed to working to solve many of the issues facing veterans. There is a great need for what he plans to do to help veterans, and I really appreciate his efforts."

Proposal #5 is long overdue as with the previous 2008 National Election problems with overseas and military votes in Virginia. I am glad to see Ken Cuccinelli take the lead here considering the obvious present administration lack of respect for this issue as noted below:

...the state of Virginia --- whose governor also happens to be the chairman of the Democrat National Committee --- went to court to disenfranchise military voters in that state's upcoming elections.
